This collaboration was underpinned by a shared vision and a set of guiding principles. In order to disentangle the town from the mine, a town transformation initiative was initiated, resulting in the establishment of OMD 2030 as a citizenry association.

Its specific mandates encompass: – Representation, direction, and engagement of the community of Oranjemund to realize citizenry goals and objectives – Functioning as the Citizenry Partner of the Town Transformation Programme of Oranjemund in conjunction with the Public and Private Sectors While OMD 2030 operates as an autonomous entity, it is also committed to fulfilling complementary obligations to other stakeholders, in addition to its primary business discipline, as part of the support it receives.
